7 DAYS IN RWANDA.
Day 1: Arrival. Early arrivals will have chance to do a city tour and visit the Nyamata Memorial site. This church and all its contents are a reminder of the horrifying violence that took place at this site during Rwanda’s 1994 genocide.
Day 2: Transfer to Parc National des Volcans. Parc National des Volcans protects the steep slopes of this magnificent mountain range- another home of the rare mountain gorilla- and the rich mosaic of montane ecosystems, which embrace evergreen and bamboo forest, open grassland, swamp and heath. We shall follow one of the numerous trails in the park and bird for the rest of our day. Stay at Kinigi Guesthouse/Virunga Lodge
Day 3: Gorilla Tracking and birding in the forest. Stay at Kinigi Guesthouse/Virunga Lodge
Day 4: Golden Monkey tracking, Community/Village Walk
Day 5 : Transfer to Parc National Nyungwe and head straight for a nature walk in thDAe forest. Bird species to look out for here include the Great Blue Turaco, Ruwenzori and Ross’ Turaco, White Starred Robin, and other endemics. Stay at ORTPN Guesthouse/Gisakura Guesthouse
Day 6: Chimpanzee tracking and birding. After an early morning breakfast we drive towards the Cyamudongo forest for Chimpanzee tracking. Cyamudongo forest is a small relic forest covering an area of 6 sq km. historically, it was connected to the Nyungwe forest but its vegetation is denser, with fewer clearings. Cyamudongo forest harbors a good population of Chimpanzees and L’Hoest’s monkey. Stay at ORTPN Guesthouse
Day 7: Transfer to Kigali and departure
