12 DAYS OF PRIMATES OF UGANDA

This tour packs in all of Uganda’s hotspots for primates including Bwindi Impenetrable forest for the endangered Mountain gorillas.  We will visit  mostly forests .

Day 1: Today we arrive in Uganda at Entebbe international airport and begin our tour with an introduction to Uganda’s primates by visiting Entebbe botanical gardens in case we arrive early.

Day 2: After an early breakfast we will travel to Mabira central forest reserve which is about 54km East of Kampala. This forest is covering an area of 306 sq km.  There are lots of butterflies, and birds over 200 recorded species of birds.

 

Day 3:  After an early breakfast we shall depart and head to west to Kibale National park stop over for lunch in fortportal and continue to the forest while birding and primate watching on the main road. Kibale forest is the richest in Uganda in terms of primates with 13 primate species including the closest species to human beings, the chimps.

Day 4: We will assemble after an early breakfast for a briefing for the most thrilling activity in this park, the chimpanzee tracking. Other primates that we are likely to see here include L’Hoest monkey, red colobus monkey, etc

Day 5: Today we start early depart to Queen Elizabeth National park. We will head direct to Maramagambo forest for a forest walk.

Day 6: We may decide to have another day with the chimpanzees in the Kyambura gorge in the morning or do game drive in through the kasenyi trail. Later in the afternoon, we shall go for a launch cruise at the Kazinga channel.

Day 7: We start early after breakfast and drive for the rest of the day to Bwindi Impenetrable national park. We will hardly take any activity today, thus we shall check in our lodge for refreshment and prepare for one in a life time activity, Gorilla tracking.

Day 8: We shall have an early breakfast and assemble for briefing for gorilla tracking in the forest, depending on the movements of these gentle giants, we may spend two to several hours of the day in the forest.

Day 9: Transfer Mgahinga gorilla national park. we shall arrive there in time to have an afternoon walk to the view point passing through beautiful mountain flowers and plants for scenery viewing.

Day 10: Today after breakfast, we will go for Golden monkey tracking. We may also have a chance to meet the blue monkeys, gorillas, black and white colobus monkey, forest elephants, giant forest hogs and stunning birds.

Day 11: Travel back to Kampala

Day 12: We may decide to visit the Entebbe wildlife education centre and Ngamba Chimpanzee Sanctuary and fly back the next day or end our tour today and depart.
